This site examines the afterlife of the middle ages—also called medievalism—or how medieval culture and events have been interpreted in modern popular culture, beginning with the early modern period and ending in the 21^stcentury. We aim to foster a deeper understanding of the relationship between historical evidence and fiction, as well as how modern sensibilities shaped popular (and often, politically charged) representations of the medieval past.
